Officers arrested two women at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge on Saturday after discovering nearly 60 pounds of cocaine hidden in their vehicle.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers came into contact with a 46-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter on Saturday when they attempted to enter into the United States, according to an agency news release.
Upon referring the mother-daughter duo to secondary inspection, officers discovered 22 packages of cocaine, weighing about 59.7 pounds, hidden within the silver 2004 BMW BX3.
Officers seized the cocaine and vehicle and arrested both women, who were later released to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations agents for further investigation.
