Each year, the Buffalo LIVING Tour offers a chance for people to explore a number of the recent building conversions, into swank residential units (including lofts, condos, and hotel suites).

This year, a special happy hour event is included in the tour. The happy hour will be situated at the south lawn of the newly renovated Hotel Henry at the HH Richardson “campus” (no longer “complex”). The event will be held from 5pm to 8pm, rain or shine. There will be a large tent, craft cocktails, and live musical by the Rhythm Rockers. Images featured in this post are of Hotel Henry.

To add to the luxurious side of life, Towne Automotive will be rolling up to Hotel Henry with a fleet of Maseratis, Alfa Romeos, BMWs, and MINI Coopers. Towne will also be unveiling its new franchise – BMW Motorrad, featuring several high performance motorcycles.

Participants can take any of the three Trolleys which will be pulling up to each of the buildings, on a continuous circuit from 10am till 5pm (they will all go to the Hotel Henry from 5pm to 9pm, and continue back to each venue to drop off those who have attended the special Happy Hour).

Following are the highlights of the tour:

The headquarters for the Tour will be 905 Elmwood (at Delavan Ave.) by Ellicott Development. Where once an old gas station stood, you behold a multi-story, sleek, new-build with primo Elmwood Village convenience. Apartments range from 900 square feet to a spacious 1,900 square foot abode with quartz countertops, imported porcelain tile, euro style cabinetry, and expansive windows. On-site parking is accessible from West Delavan Avenue.

The Cornelius (1391 Hertel Ave.) by Iskalo Development, is a stunning renovation of the former St. Margaret’s elementary school. The name is from a creek that used to run along Hertel. Apartments consist of all new construction and include the high‐quality finishes, details and appointments that Iskalo projects are known for. However, the “wow factor” of the apartments at The Cornelius is their large windows and tall ceilings, which reach up to 14’ on the second floor. Secured gated parking is just across Hertel Avenue.

Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center (444 Forest Ave.), Managed by Innvest Lodging Services. Built in 1870 by Henry Hobson Richardson, the noted architect created this, his largest masterpiece, for placement on equally historic Frederick Law Olmsted-designed landscaped grounds! It sat unkempt for decades until local philanthropists and New York State refurbished it down to every detail and opened it in May, 2017. The hotel will be both a Tour spotlight AND our final Happy Hour event site. The Happy Hour, from 5pm (immediately following the Tour) till 8pm will be on the south lawn, surrounded by the magnificent towers! A large tent will make this a rain-or-shine event. Craft cocktails, beer, and wine will be sold and music will be via the upscale The Rhythm Rockers, live!

Buffalo River Landing (441 Ohio St.) by Savarino Companies Development has re-use as its objective and industrial chic inside and out. Situated on the Buffalo River, Buffalo River Landing was home to an industrial freight house for goods shipped on the Great Lakes. The property has been transformed into 80 residential units, with 66 one-bedrooms and 14 two-bedrooms. The one-bedroom units average just under 800 square feet while the two-bedroom apartments are in the 1,600-square-foot range. Portions of the structure originally constructed around 1868 are included in the 125,000 square foot, five story beauty overlooking the once-again-busy river.

The map can also be found online for downloading, printing, and bringing to the Tour at Media upscale residences are participating per an “open house” basis for the day.

For those who prefer hopping a ride to each stop, three full size trolleys, hosted by Media will go to all eight locations from 10:00am – 5:00pm and terminate at the special happy hour at the HH Richardson complex.
