The BMW revealed a limited-edition of its 2014 6 Series luxury convertible called the Frozen Brilliant White Edition, which starts at $110,095 and has a matte-metallic white paint job.
The German car maker said it will begin building 100 copies of the white car during April and they will arrive in dealerships in May. The special 6 Series will be available as a rear-wheel drive 650i, or all-wheel-drive 650i xDrive model.
Matte and flat paint finishes have been popular in hot-rod car and motorcycle culture for decades. Early "rodders" drove cars coated in flat primer while saving money for paint. Eventually the look became a sort of statement.
Italian motorcycle maker Ducati began building matter-black "Dark" versions of its bikes in the 1990s and European car companies from BMW and Mercedes-Benz to Lamborghini have followed. The look isn't widespread but appears to be gaining traction in the high-end car market.
The special-edition car comes with a long list of features including, black grilles, 20-inch BMW Performance light-alloy wheels, black Nappa leather upholstery, gray poplar wood trim and the M Sport package.
