BMWBLOG puts together a visual comparison between the all-new 2015 BMW M4 Convertible and its predecessor, the E93 M3 Convertible.

The new M4 Convertible has grown in size when compared to the E93 model, it measures 183.9 in length compared to the 181.8 in for the E93. The F83 is also wider than the M3 Convertible, by 2.6 inches (73.6 in vs 71.0 in). As expected, the F83 wheelbase is also longer than the predecessor due to the larger base car, the 4 Series Convertible – 110.7 vs. 108.7 inches.

Besides the visual differences, there is also a change in power. The BMW M4 Convertible is powered by a twin-turbo inline six-cylinder while the E93 M3 uses everyone’s darling, the V8 naturally aspirated engine. While the naturally aspirated engine is for many drivers a more emotional engine, the turbo engine comes with substantially more torque at low engine speeds and a significantly reduced consumption.

With a DIN curb weight of 1750 kg, the open top M4 is also 60 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. The result of a more powerful engine and lower weight is better driving performance. Depending on the transmission, the BMW M4 Convertible accelerates in 4.4 to 4.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h – seven-tenths of a second faster than its predecessor.

Probably even more important in everyday life is the intermediate sprint from 80 to 120 km/h in fourth gear which takes at least 5.0 seconds for the E93. The same exercise is now done regardless of the selected gear in 3.7 seconds. Thus, the new BMW M4 Convertible is likely offering more superiority in virtually any situation.
