. “I can confirm it was Gary Westerman and I can confirm it was a homicide,” Bennett said. Bennett provided the verification on the same day he dismissed indictments against two defendants charged with the 2003 slaying of crime boss Adolfo “Big Al” Bruno. The announcements were separate, but linked, in that the Bruno slaying and the disappearance of ex-convict Westerman occurred within days of each other and were products of the same violent spree by a brash young set of gangsters, according to investigators.
